Santa Monica Pier Tour Itinerary
The Santa Monica Pier is one of the most recognized visual symbols of Los Angeles. It features a Ferris wheel, which comes alive with lights at night. It also marks the de facto boundary between Venice Beach and Santa Monica's northern beaches.
Day Tour at the Santa Monica Pier
Yon can enjoy lots of fresh seaside food options, take your kids to the amusement park, or simply chill to live music at the edge of the ocean. If you're a fan of people watching, the pier is a great place to go. You can also head south to the Venice Beach boardwalk, which is only about a mile south. Bike, rollerblade, or tricycle your way past skateboarders, street performers, and other interesting denizens of Venice Beach. Enjoy a slice of pizza and watch extremely muscular people work out in the open-air gym right by the boardwalk.
If you'd like to stay near the pier, you can play chess on an adjacent pavilion. Top masters from throughout Southern California come here daily to square off. Alternatively, just grab a towel, some water, and some sunscreen and suntan/swim to your heart's content by the blue waters of the Pacific. You can also bring your surfboard and test your mettle on the baby waves by the pier before tackling the tougher waves down by Venice Beach proper.
